Prestige, protocol, free-lunches.
That’s SAP. But not exactly SAP but this is the client-side. At the consulting side, it’s a day off or you’re crunching deadlines or playing Counter Strike with your peer SAP consultant.
That’s the short bird’s view of an SAP consultant.
What’s goes into an SAP consultant’s life is quite interesting and energizing. Something that is not so common in a traditional job.
Before the life of a SAP consultant is discussed, let’s see what awaits you in the traditional market.
The traditional market is quite saturated.
Man-eat-man competition, many applications and many CV’s become the fate of the recycle bin, every day. Recruiters care no more.
So even if you manage to get one, the office competition will kill you one day. Either growth will stop or you’ll stop. First 3 months are energetic, then the reality bites off your passion, energy and skills. That’s corporate life.
Either you cope with it or grow out of it. Even if you do, you still can’t fly. Salaries are low, people rushing behind you, step on you and you’re left licking the wounds, silently. Corporate culture again. Its always YES, its never NO in office.
SAP consultant but are different.
They are the gladiators. They are bred and born in the Colosseum, they fight the client, they have the power to say NO. They have the right to VETO board meetings, they are respected, they are few. Period.
SAP consultants are not the Jack of All Trades – but they are the jackals who have learned to roam free and fearless.
More on this later, stay tuned.
